Set between the years 180 CE and 280 CE during the collapse of the Han dynasty, its plot is based on true historical events and has been embellished with interesting folklore. Many warlords of that time period tried to take over the country by recruiting intelligent advisors and fierce warriors who came out of the woodwork. Since history repeats itself, many battles of wits described in this novel are applicable to the modern business world, as well as the daily struggles of people from all walks of life.
